At Promontory Animal Hospital, we perform eye surgery for dogs and cats at our clinic on Thomas Road in Chilliwack. Our own veterinarians treat cherry eye, entropion, eyelid problems and eye masses in-house, so your pet does not need a referral for these conditions.

Our veterinarians perform eye surgery in-house at our Chilliwack clinic for dogs and cats, including cherry eye repair, entropion correction, other eyelid surgery and the removal of eye masses. Every surgery starts with an examination and a written estimate you approve before any procedure begins.
Eye conditions we treat with veterinary eye surgery
Eye surgery is one of the procedures on our pet surgery page that our own veterinarians perform in-house. These are the conditions it treats:
- Cherry eye: a red, swollen lump in the inner corner of the eye, caused by the gland of the third eyelid slipping out of place. We usually put it back in place rather than remove it, because the gland helps make tears.
- Entropion: the eyelid rolls inward, so lashes and hair rub on the surface of the eye. We reshape the eyelid surgically so it sits away from the eye.
- Other eyelid disorders: we also treat eyelids that do not close properly or do not sit against the eye as they should.
- Eye masses: we remove lumps on the eyelid or around the eye that are growing, bleeding or bothering your pet.
Is a red or cloudy eye urgent?
Eyes can get worse quickly, so call us the same day if your pet's eye is suddenly red, cloudy or bulging, if your pet is squinting or keeping the eye shut, or if the eye has been injured. Pawing at the face or heavy discharge also needs a prompt look.
We welcome walk-ins for urgent cases, seven days a week. For routine appointments, booking ahead is recommended. Our hours are 8:00am to 8:00pm, and we are not a 24-hour hospital; see emergency and urgent care for what to do outside them.
What happens at an eye appointment
Our veterinarians examine the eye and eyelids and explain what they find in plain language: what the condition is, whether it needs surgery, and what happens if you wait. If surgery is the right step, you receive a written estimate you approve before any procedure begins.
During surgery, we support anaesthesia with modern monitoring and manage pain throughout. Your pet may need to wear a cone for a while afterward so it cannot rub the eye, and we go through the aftercare with you before your pet goes home.
