We run urgent care during our regular and extended evening hours. Most cases are urgent, not true emergencies:

- An eye suddenly red, cloudy or held shut

- Heavy bleeding, a hard swollen belly, or a swallowed toxin

Specialist surgery is booked in advance. If your pet needs watching overnight, we examine them, then say plainly that an emergency animal hospital is the right call. We are not a 24-hour emergency hospital.

We welcome walk-ins for urgent cases, seven days a week. For routine appointments, booking ahead is recommended. Same-day appointments are available, and evening, Sunday and statutory holiday availability makes it easier to get veterinary care when your pet needs it.

What we do promise is a written estimate you approve before any procedure begins, so the number is agreed before anything starts. The visit begins with an examination, and the estimate follows from what the veterinarian finds.

Urgent means your pet needs to be seen today but is stable: vomiting that will not settle, a wound, a sudden limp. A true emergency means minutes matter — laboured breathing, a seizure, a collapse, a blocked cat. Emergencies come straight in.
How much does an emergency vet visit cost?
There is no flat price: an upset stomach and a blocked bladder are different jobs. What it costs depends on how unwell your pet is, and on what treating them takes. Everything starts with an examination, and the estimate follows.
Are you an after hours vet?
We are open into the evening, until 8:00pm, seven days a week — but we are not open overnight. If your pet needs care after we close, look for a 24-hour emergency hospital. Before 8:00pm, call 604-991-2745 and come in.
What to do in a pet emergency before you get here?
Call ahead if someone else can drive. Keep the room quiet and the car cool. If your pet chewed or swallowed something, photograph it rather than clearing it away. Note when a seizure started and how long it lasted.
My dog ate something and is acting totally fine — should I still come in?
Often, yes. A pet can look completely normal at first, and those early hours are when treatment is easiest. Chocolate, grapes, xylitol, rat poison and swallowed objects all reach a point where treating them gets harder. Call and say what went in, and when.
